How to Add Correos P Y T Email to the Gmail App (Android & iOS)
If you already use the Gmail app on your phone, there is no reason to install another email app just because you switched to Correos P Y T. The Gmail app on both Android and iOS supports third-party IMAP accounts, which means you can read, send, and manage your custom domain email right from the same app you already know.
This guide walks you through every step of adding your Correos P Y T email account to the Gmail app on Android and iOS.
Why Use the Gmail App with Correos P Y T?
There are several practical reasons to pair the Gmail app with your Correos P Y T account:
- Familiar interface — No learning curve. The Gmail app is the most widely used email client on mobile, and you already know how it works.
- Push notifications — Get instant alerts when new mail arrives at your custom domain address, just like a personal Gmail account.
- Multiple accounts in one app — Manage your Correos P Y T business email alongside your personal Gmail without switching apps.
- Full send-as support — Outgoing messages show your custom domain (e.g. you@yourdomain.com), not a gmail.com address.
- Free — The Gmail app costs nothing, and Correos P Y T has a generous free plan with 15 GB of storage.

Sending Email as Your Custom Domain
Once you add your Correos P Y T account, every email you compose from that account in the Gmail app will be sent from your custom domain address. There is no extra configuration needed.
When you tap Compose, look at the "From" field. If you have multiple accounts in the Gmail app, you can tap the From field to switch between them. Select your Correos P Y T address to send as you@yourdomain.com.
Recipients will see your custom domain in their inbox, not a Gmail address. This is especially important for business communication where a professional email address builds trust with clients and partners.
Troubleshooting
If you run into problems during setup, check these common issues:
"Cannot connect to server" or "Authentication failed"
- Double-check your password. Correos P Y T passwords are case-sensitive. Make sure there are no extra spaces.
- Verify the username. Use your full email address (e.g.
you@yourdomain.com), not just the part before the @. - Check server addresses. Both IMAP and SMTP should point to
, notapp.correospyt.comorsmtp.app.correospyt.com.
"Certificate not trusted" warning
- Make sure you are using SSL/TLS for IMAP (port 993) and STARTTLS for SMTP (port 587). Using the wrong security type for the wrong port causes certificate warnings.
- Do not use port 465 unless specifically instructed. Port 587 with STARTTLS is the recommended SMTP configuration.
Emails send but are not received by others
- Verify your domain DNS records are correctly configured in the Correos P Y T dashboard. SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records are essential for deliverability.
- Check your Correos P Y T webmail Sent folder to confirm the message left your account.
Sync is slow or not real-time
- Go to Gmail app settings for your Correos P Y T account and set sync frequency to Every 15 minutes or enable push if available.
- On Android, make sure the Gmail app is not being restricted by battery optimization. Go to Settings > Apps > Gmail > Battery and select "Unrestricted."
Cannot see all folders
- In the Gmail app, tap the hamburger menu (three lines) and scroll down. Your Correos P Y T IMAP folders should appear below the default Gmail labels. If they do not, go to Settings > your Correos P Y T account > manage labels to enable the folders you need.
